Taryn
Grows

B – Backseat

Taryn Grows is a natural leader who is passionate about helping small businesses and personal development. Raised in the El Dorado Hills area, she has spent most of her life cultivating, creating and sustaining micro communities.

Taryn currently manages project coordination at Stanford University in their IT department. She has also managed the operations of a multifaceted marketing agency, led strategic alliances for the Sacramento Kings, and serviced small businesses for the Sacramento Metro Chamber of Commerce and Folsom Chamber of Commerce. Working with small businesses and learning how they built their companies ultimately led Taryn to pursue her own passion of opening a business.

Taryn is actively building a firefighter and first responder themed brewery with her business partner, her father. She has taken every opportunity that comes her way to feed into her "purpose-driven soul” of aiding local communities and to create positive experiences.

Dr. Ashley
Joves

O – Overcome

Dr. Ashley Joves had a vision to do dentistry differently. As someone who was terrified of the dentist, she took what she feared about the experience and merged her love for people, food & wine, art and culture with her passion for dentistry and founded a dental practice, Smile & Company.

Dr. Joves believes one of her greatest professional accomplishments is leading an all-star team of women who support, inspire, and empower each other every day. She credits the success of the dental practice to the hardworking women who run the show behind-the-scenes.

When she’s not transforming smiles, you can hear her podcasting as the co-host of “The Making of,” that documented the story of Smile & Co. as it was being created from conception, business plan, funding and opening to becoming a business owner and dealing with the highs and lows of entrepreneurship. More recently she started “Little Black Dress,” a podcast that highlights the stories of women who unapologetically speak their truths. Topics for discussion include body image, imposter syndrome, and more.

Bobbin
Mulvaney

L – Learning Ability

Bobbin Mulvaney is the owner/partner of Mulvaney’s B&L, a Michelin rated farm-to-fork restaurant to which she brings over 45 years of hospitality experience. After being raised in a small Central Valley farming community, Bobbin moved to Sacramento where she found the city ready to welcome her vision of elegant, comforting hospitality, focusing on the local and seasonal bounty our region provides.

Her definition of local runs from Redding to Bakersfield and Tahoe to the Pacific – really all of California. She loves nothing more than to celebrate the bounty of its historic agricultural regions, the farmers, ranchers, chefs and communities who make it possible. She consistently shares that love and knowledge with those yet to be exposed to our agricultural riches, from students and hospitality workers, to visitors near and far.

Bobbin is an active community leader outside the restaurant, focusing on youth and underserved communities especially in the education and the non-profit sectors. She has served as a board member, teacher and mentor. Bobbin has been recognized in 2019 as Sacramento 300 by Sacramento Magazine. She has been awarded the 2018 Sacramentan of the Year by the Sacramento Metro Chamber of Commerce, 2012 Social Equity Leader from Valley Vision, 2011 Women Who Mean Business from the Sacramento Business Journal, and many more.
